Bond. James Bond.

Day 58

Happy Halloween!

On Friday we went to Greenwich, by boat! (That's the flag on the front of the boat, btw)
Obviously, Greenwich is most famous for Greenwich Mean Time and being on the Prime Meridian. This clock is THE official world time. Every other time zone just counts forwards or back from it.

That line along the ground is the Prime Meridian, dividing the Eastern and Western Hemispheres. It was the first time I'd ever been in the Eastern Hemisphere.
We're reaching out across the divideOkay, this is the coolest hand dryer I've ever seen. You put your hands vertically down inside, and draw them out slowly, and it blasts you with super fast air.
The dome of the Royal Observatory. Those clouds totally look painted.
And of course, it was Halloween. I was kind of sad that on the one Halloween for years that it's actually on a Friday night, I was in England. Halloween is not a big deal in England. But we all decided to celebrate anyway. A group of us went to see the new James Bond movie Quantum of Solace. That's right, two weeks before it comes out in the States. We dressed up as Bond girls :D. Just about everyone in the Centre dressed up. We had groups dressed up like characters from Peter Pan, Harry Potter, the 80's, a box of crayons, beatniks, and Bond girls.

The best part of living with 40 girls: you can always find someone to do your hair or makeup, or loan you their wardrobe. The generations meet: 50's mom and 80's chick. These are some of my roomies :)
Fred Weasley is accosted by two of the dangerously lovely Bond girls.

We ran to the theatre because it took us longer to get ready than we thought. But we neednt have bothered. We bought tickets day of, showed up to the theatre 15 minutes before it started, and it was only half full. Shocking for an opening night showing. In the states it would have been sold out two weeks in advance and people would have camped out for like 4 hours. The movie was quite good. Lots of explosions and chase scenes, and James Bond actually appears to have a soul. It goes pretty fast too.

Saturday afternoon we went to a performance of Oscar Wilde's An Ideal Husband. Wilde's plays may be a slew of confusing and often pointed social commentary, but they're still hilarious. I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
